Hairdressing

Cutting, styling, colouring, blowdrying, relaxing, perming. There are many ways you can help your clients look good. So, if you're fashion-conscious, creative, a good communicator and like to help people feel good about themselves maybe you should think about a career as a hairdresser. 

Most people start off as salon assistants, helping out with reception duties, washing hair and learning by watching the experienced stylists at work. Once you've been around for a little while you'll start to learn the techniques of cutting blow-drying and so on. 

Don't think that you'll be cutting hair for the rest of your life though.  Hairdressing is a very competitive business and people move up the ladder quickly. There are lots of opportunities to go into management, training or business.
