Availability of the level 2 NVQ
Level 2 NVQ Oral Health Care Support
Following research and consultation within the sector, Skills for Health have indicated that there is no further need for an Oral Health specific NVQ at level 2 after 31 August 2007.
It is likely that appropriate units will be built into a pathway within the Health NVQ or the NVQ in Support Services in Health Care.
Claiming the NVQ Level 2 and 3 certificates from 01 April 2007
From 01 April 2007, centres should note that the independent assessment will need to be claimed as a component in order to generate a full NVQ certificate. Centre managers or exams secretaries should enter component number 900 on an 'S' form or Walled Garden when a candidate has passed the independent assessment within the level 2 or 3 qualification.
Status of new National Occupational Standards (NOS)
There are no proposed changes to the new National Occupational Standards with the exception of CHS 36 which has been revised and is currently with UKCG in order for them to agree the changes.
The National Occupational Standards on which the Level 3 NVQ is based are available on the Skills for Health website.
Centres are reminded that it is possible to use the new standards as underpinning knowledge for learning programmes but that no assessments should be undertaken until the new NVQ is available in September 2007.
