Engineering Technical Support - NVQ 3 (No. 1686 )
This qualification is for people who are working within technical support activities in an engineering environment, and who have a high level of technical skills and knowledge in this type of activity. They will be expected to demonstrate safe working practices and procedures at all times and work to instructions, either alone or in conjunction with others, taking personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work they carry out. Learners for this qualification will have gained a working level of skill ability and acquired sufficient knowledge and understanding of the relevant techniques, materials, tools and equipment used, in order to enable them to carry out the technical support activities, solve related problems, correct any faults and ensure that the work output meets the required specification standard. These NVQs cover a range of operations including CAD, Quality Control and NDT. Engineering Technical Support is available at two levels: Mandatory units: Three mandatory units and one optional (except for the Non-destructive Testing and Computer Control Programming pathways, which are three mandatory and two optional and the Technical Services pathway, which is four mandatory and three optional). Mandatory units: The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills and competencies required by those who work within engineering and provide specialist support to products and services. Success in the qualification will recognise an ability to perform completely within the practical environment with an understanding of the related technology. All learners will need to be able to demonstrate their competency pre-qualification.Level 2
