Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) - QCF (No. 7303 )
QCF credits : 6
This single unit (6 credits) level 3/4 qualification provides an introduction to teaching as a step towards licensed practitioner status – ATLS or QTLS. Candidates will come from a variety of vocational backgrounds and will seek an introduction to teaching; they may already be in role or have no prior experience.

The Department for Innovation Universities and Skills (DIUS) has allocated up to £30 million of funding for qualifications that fulfil the requirements of the Qualified Teacher, Learning and Skills Framework. Centres are advised to contact their local LSC to establish their eligibility for funding, using the following QCA reference numbers:

On qualification approval, centres will receive a free CD: Qualifications for the Qualified Teacher, Learning and Skills Framework (CD-00-7305), which contains the qualification handbook with all unit and assessment content.

Existing centres
Automatic approval has been given for the Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (7303-01), for centres in England offering:
- 7302 Certificate in Delivering Learning
- 7307 Certificate in Teaching Adult Learners
- 7407 Certificate in Further Edcation Teaching.
Fast-track approval is available for the Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (7303-02), for centres in England offering:
- 7302-03 Diploma in Delivering Learning
- 7407-01/02/03/04 Certificate in Further Education Teaching.
