These new qualifications are intended for people who are employed in the nuclear industry. The Level 2 qualification is designed to provide for those who will be undertaking decontamination operations. There are mandatory and optional units, the latter allow for the differing types of radiation work areas and the range of functions within decommissioning. The Level 3 qualification also has mandatory and optional units. There are two pathways for certification, supervisory and technical. The supervisors route is for those who will be leading teams and managing work and resources. The technical route is for those who work on engineering plant and equipment. At all levels safety and radiation protection is a key part of the qualifications.
