The Certificates in Adult Numeracy and Adult Literacy contribute to the Government's Skills for Life strategy in England, as well as the National Basic Skills Strategy for Wales (Words Talk Numbers Count). These qualifications are intended for learners who have been following the adult numeracy or adult literacy core curriculum and assess against the national standards.

These qualification are designed primarily for adult learners, although are also approved for pre-16s in England and Wales. 

New for 2009

The new Entry 3 Adult Numeracy GOLA test is now live and is available via 3792-03. We have introduced this as an alternative to the assignment and short task/portfolio assessments already available via 3792-01. This assessment route is automatically available to all GOLA enabled centres.  If you are not a GOLA centre find out more about becoming a centre here.

Assessment - Levels 1 and 2
At levels 1 and 2, candidates take the adult numeracy/literacy national tests. Click here to access our national tests resource centre, containing information about the three different ways you can access the tests, practice papers and pass-mark ranges.

Assessment - Entry Level
At Entry level we offer a choice of two assessment routes:

• one assignment covering 100% of the national standard

or

• a portfolio covering 50% of the national standard, plus short tasks covering the remaining 50%.

or

• for Numeracy Entry 3 we offer an online multiple choice test.
