The qualification

This NVQ will help you prove your skills and is available at different levels depending on your experience and current job role, from trainee to hairdresser to salon director. By taking this award you could expect to cover areas of work including:

Level 1:

• Assisting with salon reception duties
• Advising and consulting with clients
• Cutting hair.

Level 2:

• Colouring hair
• Drying and styling hair.

Level 3:

• Colouring hair using a variety of techniques
• Providing hair extension services
• Perming, relaxing and neutralising hair.
  

By the time you reach level three you'll have sufficient experience to go wherever you want to go. At which point, how your career develops is totally up to you!
