Hair, nails, make-up. manicures, pedicures, cutting and styling. Do those words get your learners' attention? If they are contemplating a career, or a career move into the hairdressing or beauty therapy industry then City & Guilds has a treatment for them. The Diploma in Salon Services allows them to gain a valuable insight into the hair and beauty sector, helping develop the relevant skills and knowledge to start or further their career in the industry. The qualification has been approved by Habia - the standards setting body for hairdressing in the UK. Salon Services is aimed at anyone, at any age contemplating a career or career move into hairdressing and beauty therapy. To achieve the certificate in hairdressing or beauty therapy learners will need to complete 8 units (including a GOLA test). To achieve the combined certificate in hair & beauty, they'll need to complete 10 units (including a GOLA test). To achieve the diploma in hairdressing or beauty therapy learners will need to complete 13 units (including a GOLA test). To achieve the combined diploma in hair & beauty, they'll need to complete 13 units (including a GOLA test). For each of these qualifications, learners will be required to complete one assignment for each unit and one multiple-choice online (GOLA) test covering mandatory generic units. Assignments are externally set and internally marked and graded. The natural route of progression would be to move on to either the Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy level 1 NVQ. Learners aged 16 or over may go straight to the appropriate level 2 NVQ. If learners are unable to obtain a suitable work placement, or have limited access to a realistic working environment, a level 2 Hair or Beauty Diploma is also a suitable choice. We also offer a wide range of Leadership and Management qualifications through our sister organisation ILM. Centres currently offering the Certificate in Hair and Beauty Therapy can be fast tracked on to either of the diplomas.Who is it aimed at?
