Automotive Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (Full Version) - Vocational (No. 3901 )

Starting out in the automotive industry is a tough job. But City & Guilds can help your learners on their way with an entry level 3 qualification designed for those who want to learn about automotive maintenance. What's even more appealing is that it's available for part-time learners too.

The 3901 qualification will provide your learners with a practical introduction to the automotive maintenance and repair industry and covers the main areas of automotive maintenance, body and pain maintenance and vehicle electrical maintenance. This is an introduction qualification which strongly emphasises hands-on assessment.

As a centre you will use this qualification in wide range of contexts, from a basic trial for school age learners wanting an introduction to the industry, for evening classes or even as a pre-apprenticeship programme. The qualifications cover the main areas of automotive maintenance, body and paint maintenance and vehicle electrical maintenance

Who is it aimed at?

The qualification is aimed at those just entering the automotive industry and/or those participating in evening classes on vehicle maintenance.

Qualification structure

The qualification is available in the following and requires the following number of units:

  • Entry Level 3 Award in Vehicle Systems and Body & Paint Maintenance - Vehicle Systems Maintenance: 10 from 11 units
  • Entry Level 3 Award in Vehicle Systems and Body & Paint Maintenance - Vehicle Body & Paint Maintenance: 10 mandatory units
  • Entry Level 3 Award in Vehicle Systems and Body & Paint Maintenance - General Vehicle Maintenance: 10 from 21 units
  • Entry Level 3 Award in Vehicle Systems and Body & Paint Maintenance - General Vehicle Electrical: 10 mandatory units.

How is the qualification delivered and assessed?

Your learners will be trained in college and assessed through practical assessment and oral questions.

Progression

You can progress on to the level 1 VRQ in Automotive Vehicle Maintenance (4101).

Is fast track available?

Fast track is available for those centres already running the level VRQ in Automotive Vehicle Maintenance (4101).
