Door Supervision - Vocational 2 (No. 1900 )

Can you deal with difficult situations in a calm, confident and safe manner? Do you enjoy nightlife but are always alert to any potential problems? Ever thought about working as a door supervisor? Sounds like a tough job? It's even tougher without the right training and qualifications.

As a door supervisor you could be responsible for checking and searching people as they enter a building, dealing with conflict and emergencies, and restraining individuals if necessary. You could work in venues such as pubs, bars and clubs.

Sounds like your kind of thing? If you work, or want to work, as a door supervisor for the pubs and clubs of England and Wales you have to have a Licence to Practise from the Security Industry Authority (SIA). One of the requirements of a Licence is that you will need to complete a qualification, such as our Certificate in Door Supervision, which has been approved by the SIA.

Qualification structure

The qualification consists of the following units:

  • Roles and Responsibilities of Door Supervisors
  • Conflict Management for Door Supervisors

The certificate takes you through everything you need to know about the roles and responsibilities of a door supervisor, as well as how to deal with difficult, and sometimes even violent, situations. It will help you to recognise when people are becoming aggressive, or things are getting heated and potentially dangerous, and equip you with the skills needed to calm things down before they get out of hand.

How will I learn and be assessed?

To complete the certificate you will need to complete 30 hours of training by an approved City & Guilds training provider. After this you will be assessed by taking a two-hour multiple-choice exam.
