Happiness Index

Emily Park is a happy beauty therapistThe results for the 2007 City & Guilds Happiness Index are just in and show that, on the whole, we're a pretty contented lot. The average rating by employees for workplace happiness this year is 7.1 out of 10.

Once again hairdressers and beauty therapists have come out on top in the annual survey, while results indicate that the unhappiest workers are HR Managers, secretaries, PAs and those working in administration.

City & Guilds compiles the Happiness Index to track the satisfaction and fulfilment of the country’s workforce and this year we surveyed 1,000 UK employees across a range of professions to guage how satisfied they are at work. For the first time, we also surveyed employers to see if there was a difference in opinion.
