This award is designed for community wardens, neighbourhood wardens and street wardens and will allow you to demonstrate that you have the skills and knowledge to do the job. Areas covered by this City & Guilds NVQ are:

Qualification structure

To achieve the level 2 qualification you must complete 6 mandatory and 2 optional units.

Mandatory units:

• Contribute to maintaining safe and secure community environments.
• Receive and provide information.
• Support community needs.
• Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety.
• Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation.
• Plan and manage own workload.

How is the qualification delivered and assessed?

Learners are assessed in the workplace performing real work activities. In addition to observation, there is a range of other methods of assessment such as expert witness testimony and simulation. Please refer to the qualification handbook (pdf 0.68mb) for more details.

Centres approved to offer the qualification Level 2 NVQ in Community Wardens (1878) may apply for the new Level 2 NVQ in Community Wardens (1978) using the fast track approval form (doc 0.15mb). Please return all completed forms to your local City & Guilds office. Fast track approval is available for 12 months from the launch of the qualification. After this time, the qualification is subject to the standard Qualification Approval Process.
