Working with centres
We provide the support to help centres deliver our qualifications easily and effectively
From large global organisations to colleges, more than 8500 centres all over the world offer our qualifications.
What is a City & Guilds centre?
City & Guilds centres can be colleges or schools, businesses or training providers. They range from large organisations like Tesco, to colleges like the Accra Institute of Technology, to small businesses like the Upper Cut hair salon in Weston-super-Mare.
How do we work with our centres?
We work in partnership with our centres. Each centre chooses how to offer a qualification, creating their own:
- delivery methods
- course syllabuses
- in-house verification.
Our job is to:
- maintain quality standards in relation to assessment
- monitor implementation of our qualifications
- assess the centre
- issue certificates to successful learners.
What we offer our centres
Our priority is to help centres deliver our qualifications easily and efficiently, while giving learners the support they need. We offer:
- an online administration area, the Walled Garden to cut administration time.
- Online access to materials for tutors and learners through SmartScreen.co.uk. These include: lesson plans, handouts and activities, revision help, careers advice and qualifications documents.
- Online assessment to help centres provide instant feedback to learners and create flexible timetables.
- News includes monthly alerts linking to the latest information on our products and services and a calendar of events and workshops for centre staff. Broadsheet - our popular quarterly magazine packed with news and features on vocational education and training, free to City & Guilds centres.
- Twelve regional and national offices and a network of international branch offices available to answer questions and help solve problems.
- A customer charter and annual centre satisfaction survey to help us provide the best possible service.
