Supporting excellence

As a charity, we support initiatives that recognise and promote achievement and excellence in vocational skills.

We're pleased to be able to help individuals and organisations working to further the cause of vocational skills.

Because we're a not-for-profit organisation, we can use any surplus revenue to:

  • support a wide range of organisations by sponsoring events and conferences that further vocational skills
  • engage with our community to encourage more people to benefit from learning and developing their skills
  • celebrate success for individual learners, centres and external verifiers.

Organisations we support

From the Association of Colleges to the National Training Awards, many organisations out there run valuable events with support from City & Guilds.

Our work in the community

We've put together a wide range of community programmes - from staff volunteering to support for endangered skills - that help promote vocational skills to the widest possible audience.

Our support for World Class Skills

Worldskills is the biggest and best skills competition in the world. We're supporting Team UK at WorldSkills 2009 in Calgary, Canada, and we're a premier sponsor of WorldSkills London 2011.

We're also sponsoring our learners around the world - from the New Zealand WorldSkills catering team to the WorldSkills Hong Kong hairdressing team.

Celebrating success

We run schemes to identify and honour excellent individuals in every field - because they deserve it, and because their achievement might encourage others.

Many employers, centres and other organisations take the chance to support and extend these schemes through their own prizes, grants or bursaries.

For examples of how we recognise and celebrate our outstanding learners, teachers and verifiers, read about our Medals for Excellence.
