Shaping qualifications

By working with expert and dedicated organisations, we create vocational qualifications of real value to employers, learners - and the economy.

We ensure each new City & Guilds qualification is:

  • relevant and effective
  • based around the real needs of learners and employers
  • designed to be engaging and fulfilling
  • supported by world class teaching and learning resources.

To achieve this, we work with organisations that can identify skills needs and help us find innovative ways to fulfil them. These organisations include:

  • Industry bodies such as the Sector Skills Councils, acting as the voice of employers to help us identify relevant valuable skills for their industry
  • Training delivery experts such as online assessment specialists Promissor, to provide the resources that make our qualifications actively engaging
  • Other awarding bodies like the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX), where we jointly certificate their vocational paralegal programmes, and AQA City & Guilds, with whom we offer the 14-19 Diplomas. To help awarding bodies share knowledge, we jointly founded the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB)

We also work directly with the colleges, training providers and large employers that deliver our qualifications - our City & Guilds centres.

Some of the organisations we work with:

British Institute of Cleaning Science
British Institute of Innkeepers
ConstructionSkills
CTD Quickstep
The Institute of Hospitality
Engineering Council (UK)

Market Research Authority
MAYBO - conflict management consultancy
