Centre for Skills Development

Researching skills and sharing knowledge around the world.

The Centre for Skills Development (CSD) is our research and development body. Independent and not-for-profit, it exists to improve the policy and practice of work-related education and training all over the world.

Researching and improving skills

The CSD works with organisations around the world - principally with policy makers, employers, training providers and learners - to share knowledge and help to lead the debate on skills policy and practice.

Its work falls into three main areas:

  • research and development: working to inform and improve policy and practice in vocational education.
  • skills development projects: providing services for individuals and communities - from disadvantaged adults in the UK to children in Hyderabad, India.
  • consultancy: fee-paying projects commissioned by organisations to support their own development projects.
