Our policies
Customer Charter
Our mission is to become a world-leading provider of qualifications and learning support for work and adult life. And because we're fully committed to our customers - our partnerships with centres and training providers - we've created a Customer Charter for you to refer to. For more details see the Customer Charter page.
Equal opportunities policy
It's important that our centres and training providers use an equal opportunities policy that works together with ours, and that they maintain an effective appeals procedure. We also expect you to tell your candidates how to find and use their own equal opportunities policy and appeals procedure.

Access to assessment and qualifications
These are important documents about guidance and regulations relating to candidates who are eligible for adjustments in assessment. This covers access arrangements and special considerations for candidates that have special needs.

Age discrimination legislation
Age discrimination legislation came into force on 1 October 2006. As a result, we have been reviewing our internal processes and documentation. We would like to make it clear that this will not affect qualifications or assessments. It may, however, impact on the interpretation of what is meant by 'occupational expertise' in relation to assessors, internal verifiers and external verifiers for N/SVQs.

NVQ Code of Practice
As with all vocational awarding bodies, we're regulated by QCA - the Qualifications Curriculum Authority. QCA ensures that NVQ qualifications meet particular criteria and are comparable across different sectors.
The NVQ code of practice is produced by the three regulatory authorities: QCA in England, ACCAC in Wales and CCEA in Northern Ireland. The regulatory authorities review the code regularly to ensure it remains up to date and fit for purpose. A copy of the current code of practice can be downloaded from this website, however we do strongly recommend that you visit the QCA website to stay abreast of any development and changes.

Managing cases of suspected malpractice by centres and candidates
This guidance is intended for all those involved in the management and delivery of City & Guilds qualifications. It covers the procedures to be followed in the reporting and identification of malpractice, maladministration or misconduct on the part of candidates and/or centre staff, and the actions which City & Guilds may take when allegations of malpractice are reported.
