Want to get involved in the Olympics in 2012? Develop the skills you need with the Award in Preparation for Event Volunteering (Personal Best). Achieving this qualification guarantees you an interview for one of over 70,000 Olympic Games volunteer roles.
You'll cover things like customer relations, teamwork, conflict resolution and handling emergencies. You'll build skills that can be transferred from a volunteering role to long-term employment.
Who are they for?
This qualification is aimed at people over the age of 16 who may not be in education, employment or training. It's particularly suited to people interested in volunteering for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
You'll be provided with access to a 20-hour volunteer placement if you take this qualification.

You're looking to gain long-term employment, most likely in the sport and active leisure activities industry, by learning valuable and transferable skills. - How long do they take?
Guided learning hours are the hours you spend learning with your training provider or on your own. The guided learning hours for this qualification are:

To deliver this qualification you need to provide your learners with a suitable learning environment and the resources they need to complete all aspects of the qualification. You will need qualified internal assessors.
This qualification is assessed using practical demonstration and assignments.

- What resources do we need?
Centres must provide access to sufficient equipment in the centre to ensure candidates have the opportunity to cover all of the practical activities.

- How can we get approval to offer them?
New to City & Guilds?
First become a centre - then you can apply for qualification approval. There are restrictions to delivery. Please contact the regional office for details.Already a centre?
Download and complete the qualification approval form (PDF) and send it to your local City & Guilds office. - Are there any learner eligibility requirements?
Learners must have access to an appropriate 20-hour voluntary work placement. Learners should also have literacy skills at Entry Level 2 or above.
Learners must also:
- be legally resident in the UK
- be able to take up paid employment in a European Union member state
- not be currently enrolled on another training course at the point of entry
- not be in possession of a full Level 2 qualification or above.
