Qualifications in the Security industry
Public concern and Government initiatives to create a safer environment and to address the security threats of terrorism have thrown the spotlight on the security sector. The new Security Industry Authority for England & Wales (the SIA) sets out to transform the industry and its licence to practise will be mandatory for most people working in the sector.
City & Guilds, in partnership with leading bodies within the security industry (BIIAB, BPA, Maybo and Skills for Security), offers the most comprehensive range of qualifications in the sector. These awards not only support the SIA's Licence to Practice, but provide vocational pathways in many other related areas. The portfolio breaks down into the following five main areas:
-
Close Protection
Qualifications for those working or planning to work as close protection officers.
-
Security guarding
Qualifications for security guards across a range of roles, from static patrol, to CCTV operation, to management roles within the industry.
-
Security systems (inc. CCTV)
Qualifications for systems engineers working in the security industry with a range of alarm systems and with CCTV.
-
Parking and community safety
Qualifications for systems engineers working in the security industry with a range of alarm systems and with CCTV.
