There is no substitute for high quality training when it comes to learning the skills required to develop a successful career in beauty therapy.

The Level 2 City & Guilds Diplomas in Beauty Therapy/Body Treatments/Consultancy/Nail Technology incorporates different routes which focus on the principles and practical skills required in beauty and nail industries.

Who is it aimed at?

The qualifications are suitable for anyone wishing to start a career in beauty therapy, nails or the cosmetics retail industry. They are highly practical qualifications that provide the skills and knowledge required to start work in the industry.

How is the qualification taught and assessed?

Provided the skills and knowledge related to the National Occupational Standards and requirements for the qualification are met, you may design courses or programmes of study in any way that you feel best meets the needs and capabilities of your learners. You may wish to included topics in the course programme which will not be assessed.

Centre qualification approval

Only City & Guilds approved centres can offer City & Guilds qualifications. Centres approved to offer the NVQ Level 2 or above in Nail Services (3024) may apply for approval for the Level 2 Diploma in Nail Technology (6903-03) using the Fast Track form available from your nearest regional/national office.

Progression

These qualifications provide knowledge and practical skills related to the City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ in Beauty Therapy and Level 2 NVQ in Nail Services.

Learners who successfully achieve one of these qualifications and are in employment or have access to work placements could progress to the NVQs in Beauty Therapy or City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Body Treatments.

Learners may progress into employment or on to the following City & Guilds qualifications:

• City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ in Beauty Therapy
