City & Guilds acquires Kineo

City & Guilds has acquired Kineo, a leading global learning and technology company, as part of its aim to create the world’s leading workplace learning company. Kineo will continue to operate under the same brand, but as part of the City & Guilds Group.

Kineo works with many of the world’s leading employers, such as Nikon, Vodafone and BP, designing e-learning solutions to help them enhance their workforce and boost business performance. Since it was founded in 2005, it has grown to have a strong international presence with offices across the UK and in the US. As a result of the acquisition, employers will be able to benefit from Kineo’s innovative learning technology, coupled with City & Guilds’ industry-leading qualifications and quality processes.

Some of the combined services that City & Guilds and Kineo will offer include training consultancy, blended learning development and delivery, and accreditation and assessment. In the future, Kineo’s e-learning and technology expertise will also provide an enhanced service for other customers that City & Guilds and ILM currently work with, both in the UK and internationally.

Speaking about the development, Chris Jones, CEO and Director General of City & Guilds, said: ‘We’re thrilled to welcome Kineo into the City & Guilds Group. Like Kineo, we believe in the power of technology to help businesses keep learning, sharing knowledge, and performing at their best. Together we aim to create the world’s leading workplace learning company, as we believe a skilled workforce is the essential ingredient for economic growth.’

Meanwhile, Steve Rayson, Managing Director of Kineo said: ‘This is a terrific next step in the growth of Kineo. From the beginning, we’ve aimed to help transform performance through learning with great design and innovative technology. We’re proud to become part of an organisation with such an important purpose: ‘To enable people and organisations to develop their skills for personal and economic growth’. Together I’m convinced we will transform learning in the workplace.’
