Tim Strickland was appointed Chief Executive Officer of FE Sussex in March 2008 and since then he has been instrumental in positioning FE Sussex as England’s leading college consortia.
Under his leadership the business of FE Sussex has grown from its original purpose of effecting quality improvement to include the securing and delivery of shared services to colleges, development and implementation of an advanced software system to record staff availability, improving value for money procurement and extensive delivery of educational projects.
He has also developed the commercial and consultancy side of FE Sussex’s work.
Tim was previously International Director at Hastings College of Arts and Technology, responsible for securing and delivering education and training contracts both in the college and overseas.
This work was recognised when the college’s international provision was awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education. Prior to this Tim was Director of Engineering and Science at what is now City College Brighton and Hove, a position he was promoted to after teaching electronics, radar, radio and communication satellite technology at a specialist marine college.
Tim was trained by the Merchant Navy serving as a radio and electronics officer on oil tankers, liners and cruise ships. An author of many electronics text books, he has also been an associate inspector with Ofsted and its previous agencies for over 14 years.
Tim has been a member of the City & Guilds Council since 2009 and of the Trustee Board since 2010.
