• Christopher Blake - Painting and Decorating

  Chris is 21 and from Livingston in Scotland. He is employed by Mardon Decorating Services in West Lothian.

• Jonathan Bourne – Bricklaying

  Jonathan is 20 years old and lives in Staffordshire where he works for Amos Developments Ltd, a company specialising in new builds and property conversions.

• Keith Chapman - Landscape Gardening

  Keith is 21 and from Hackforth in Bedale. He studied at Askham Bryan College in York where he completed a National Diploma in Horticulture.

• Andrew Critchlow – IT PC and Network Support

  Andrew is 21-years-old and from West Sleekburn in Northumberland. He works for Bedlingtonshire Community High School, which he once attended as a pupil!

• Julie Doig – Restaurant Services

  Julie is 21-years-old from Perthshire in Scotland. She studied at Aberdeen College where, amongst many qualifications, she gained a HND in Hospitality Management.

• Dan Glover – Automobile Technology

  Dan is 19-years-old from Ashton-under-Lyne in Manchester. He trained with The Honda Institute and completed his Apprenticeship earlier this year.

• Stuart Greer – Welding

  Stuart is 20 years old and lives in Ulceby near Grimsby. He has successfully completed a City & Guilds NVQ Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Welding as well as an Apprenticeship.

• Ben Insergent – Joinery

  Ben is 22 and lives in Somerton, Somerset. He is currently working towards an NVQ Level 3 in Joinery at Somerset College of Arts and Technology.

• Philip Jackson – CNC Milling

  Philip is 22 years old and lives in Malvern. He studied at Worcester Technology College where he gained numerous qualifications including a City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical Production.

• Jade Kidd – Beauty Therapy

  Jade is 19 years old and lives in Skegness, Lincolnshire where she runs her own beauty salon, Just Jade.

• Timothy Lancaster – Landscape Gardening

  Timothy is 20 and comes from Guiseley in Leeds. He studied at Askham Bryan College in York where he successfully completed a National Diploma in Horticulture.

• Matthew Lander – Refrigeration

  Matthew is 19 years old and is from Huddersfield. He has successfully achieved numerous qualifications including an NVQ Level 2 in Small Commercial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.

• Donna Leach – Hairdressing

  Donna is 21 and lives in Cinderford in the West Midlands where she is employed by the Cutting Edge hairdressing salon.

• Jonathan Lloyd – Car Painting

  Jonathan is 20 years old and lives and works in Newtonabbey in Northern Ireland. He completed NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Car Painting at Blackwater House in Belfast.

• Simon Noble - Auto-body Repair

  Simon is 20-years-old and originally from Billingham near Cleveland. He studied at Thatcham College where he successfully achieved NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Vehicle Body Repair.

• George Plant – Stonemasonry

  George is 21 years old and lives in Teanford in Staffordshire. He studied at Bath College where he successfully completed an NVQ Level 3 in Stonemasonry.

• Harry Smith – Graphic Design Technology

  Harry is 21 years old from Worthing in West Sussex. He is currently studying for a BA Hons at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth.

• Graham Squire – Cooking

  Graham is 21 years old from Gosport in Hampshire. He now lives in London where he is employed by the world famous Claridge’s Hotel. Graham has achieved several NVQs up to Level 4 including Butchery and Cooking.

• Natalie Stanyer – Floristry

  Natalie is 21 and lives in Stoke-on-Trent where she is employed by Elizabeth Floral Art. She studied at Roseheath College where she successfully gained a BTEC 1st Diploma as well as a National Diploma in Floristry.

• Gary Tuddenham – Cabinet Making

  Gary is 21 and lives in Alton, Hampshire. He has studied at Carlisle College and Kendal College where he successfully gained City & Guilds Progression Awards Levels 2 and 3 in Fine Furniture Making.

• Will Torrent – Confectionery / Pastry Chef

  Will is 21 years old, he has just completed a BSc in Culinary Arts Management at Thames Valley University, and earlier this year appeared alongside top TV chef James Martin in the BBC series ‘Sweet Baby James’.

• Michael Westlake – Mechanical Engineering CADD

  He has already achieved qualifications in Engineering, Manufacturing Processes and CADD at Levels 2, 3 and 4 and is currently studying for a HNC in Mechatronics.

• Ben Yould – Plumbing

  Ben Yould is a very capable competitor; however UK Skills felt that Ben would benefit from more time to further develop his skills and strengthen his performance with a view to potentially competing in WorldSkills Canada 2009.
