Membership (MCGI)

Membership is the ideal award for senior managers and is comparable to a British Master’s degree. Recipients will need to be able to prove operational ability and expertise at strategic management level. This will be supported by a minimum of ten years' management experience in areas such as:

  • working to improve performance and keeping abreast of advances in the professional field
  • implementing and maintaining systems correctly to monitor quantity, quality, cost and time
  • defining problems and recommending solutions to improve efficiency of operations
  • understanding the company’s mission and the social and economic implications of work undertaken
  • exercising responsibility for technical and managerial duties

There are three routes available to a candidate wishing to apply for the Membership award:

  • the Fast Track route
  • the Thesis route
  • the Portfolio route

Fast Track

At least ten years' middle

Evidence that you are registered
with a recognised UK Engineering body at CEng level or relevant military rank

Send your application form to the SA department along with a cheque for £370 and relevant documents.  Providing your application meets C & G criteria your certificate will be sent to you within 10-14 working days.

Thesis

At least ten years' middle
management experience'

Thesis of 20,000 words

Interview

Write a 20,000 word, work-based project report (thesis) then attend an interview board in London.
