This qualification has been developed with the Pet Care Trust to provide skills within the pet store industry and to meet the requirements of the pet shop licensing authority.

The qualification is aimed at candidates:

• for whom NVQs/ SVQs are not a suitable option
• who seek progression within or change to the pet store industry
• who seek to develop skills
• who are looking for progression into managment or higher education
• who wish to add to their Continuous Professional Development

The qualification is accredited to a Level 3 by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

Assessment is carried out externally through written papers which may be done as a whole or in two parts. Candidates must pass all eight complusory units to achieve certification. There are no optional units to this qualification.
