Federation of Awarding Bodies

The Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) is a member organisation for vocational awarding bodies that works on their behalf to open up a dialogue between ourselves and the different regulatory and stakeholder organisations.

Our aim is to provide a vocational qualification system that meets the differing needs of learners, employers, training providers and awarding bodies as well as offering good value to funding bodies and taxpayers.

FAB was founded in 2000 by the four largest vocational awarding bodies: City & Guilds, Edexcel, the Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations Board (OCR) and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board (now EDI plc).

Realising the potential of this organisation to act in the interests of all vocational awarding bodies, membership was opened up to the wider network in May 2001 and now stands at 81 vocational awarding bodies.
