City & Guilds, as a member of the Joint Council for Qualifications, is pleased to announce that it has adopted a universal approval process for NVQs.  This service is available now.

This innovative service is in line with our commitment to the 8 Pledges 'Delivering Better Service with Less Bureaucracy', as reported at the AoC conference in Autumn 2005.

It has been recognised that the high quality approvals for NVQs, managed by each JCQ awarding body, can be universally accepted.

To take advantage of this common centre and qualification approval service, centres will need to provide evidence of:

• current approval with an existing NVQ awarding body, and
• two current, satisfactory and relevant external verifier reports.
