If someone mentioned PAT testing to your learners, would they know what it meant? Well, if their answer is yes then City & Guilds have a qualification that will inspect and test them to the highest standards. The Certificate Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment is a qualification based on the IEE’s Code of Practice for in-service inspection and testing electrical equipment. Note: This qualification should not be confused with the Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (2391), which is aimed at installations of entire buildings rather than portable appliances. This qualification is aimed at practising electricians involved in the inspection and testing of electrical equipment (e.g. portable appliances) and/or those involved in managing the process of it. There are two routes available within this qualification: Your learners will be taught within a classroom environment within a college/Further Education (FE) institution. They should already be a practising electrician. For each certificate your learners will be assessed via one online (GOLA) test. You are also required to offer a practical test to evaluate their ability to conduct testing. One mandatory unit – Certificate in Management of Electrical Equipment Maintenance (2377-100).

Progression
Progression to Level 4 qualifications would be for management and engineering roles.
