Do you have a level 2 and a level 3 vocational certificate?  If so, did you know that in most cases you can upgrade these for a Full Technological Certificate?  With a 4 year basic vocational qualification plus an additional subject at an advanced level, you could be well on your way to holding the prestigious Full Technological Certificate.

How does it work?

The option to upgrade to a Full Technological Certificate is open to anyone who has already achieved a vocational award that has consisted of levels 2 and 3.  That’s to say you hold a certificate for each full level, not the individual units.

Secondly, you need to be currently employed in the area in which you are applying for your technological certificate as follows:

• Electrical / Electrical Technicians
• Mechanical Engineering Technicians
• Motor Vehicle Engineering Technicians
• Telecommunications Technicians (please note, a level 1 qualification is also required for this subject)
• Industrial Measurements and Control Technicians
• IT (Hong Kong only)

Making your application

Firstly, you will need to ensure you have evidence to support your application.  The following pieces of evidence are required:

1. A copy of your vocational certificates for each level - 2 and 3 and level 1 where the qualification requires it.
2. Details of your industrial experience, such as a copy of your CV or a signed transcript from your employer confirming your employment status and the nature of your job.

Next, simply complete and return to us a copy of your FTC application form.  There is a charge for application of £34 - this covers the administration and issuing of your new certificate.
