That Deserves a Medal!
The anticipation showed on the faces of the Medal for Excellence winners when they arrived at the famous Haydock Park Race Course on 4th May 2005. Gathered in one room were the ten medal winners; the cream of the crop. Out of 133,000 candidates who had been certificated last year the top nine students and one External Verifier awaited their fate due to the high standard of work that they had completed.
The whole day was centred on the ten exceptional individuals. After the arrival drinks Clive Huyton, the North West Regional Services Manager, asked the winners and their guests to be seated whilst the presentations were made. Each winner proudly made their way to the front to collect their awards and certificates.
After the ceremony the winners made their way outside and relaxed as they sat by the race course. The fantastic whether and scenery provided a great opportunity for photographs. Everyone was invited to a four-course meal at the racecourse in order to celebrate their success further.
One of the medal winners, Tracey Page, who won the award due to the work she completed for the NVQ Level 2 Distribution, Warehousing and Storage Operations qualification, said that she was 'overwhelmed' at being nominated for the award. After Tracey’s achievement she is now hoping to relax a little a start a family.

The Medals for Excellence event and the UK Awards Dinner was enjoyed by all, including the guest speaker, ex City and Guilds candidate, Alan Titchmarsh.
The Medals for Excellence Ceremony and UK Awards Dinner is held each year and anyone can be nominated for their hard work, dedication and overall achievement.
