The 'Guilded' Few
The 'Guilded' Few - 19 Mar 2008
Medals for excellence have been presented to seven vocational learners at a ceremony near Wellington.
The City & Guilds awards were presented to seven of the organisation's best vocational learners in the South-West during a ceremony hosted by Bindon Country House Hotel.
Qualifications ranged from computer aided engineering to welding and dog grooming.
The seven learners came through a rigorous selection procedure and represent the cream of some 120,000 learners who signed up for City & Guilds qualifications in the South-West during the last year.
Ali Vowles, BBC Points West reporter, presented the winners with exclusive gold medals bearing the City & Guilds ensignia dating from 1880.
The lucky seven will also travel to London for an Oscars style UK-wide event on April 14.
John Lockwood, City & Guilds regional manager, said: "It was a privilege to be able to recognise such exceptional learners, who can rightly consider themselves the best in the South-West."
