New launch! The partly integrated route to subject specialist status
New to launch this April is an integrated learning model for literacy, ESOL and numeracy teacher training qualifications.
This model enables time and cost-effective delivery for centres and offers opportunities to integrate learning and delivery with other teacher training qualifications towards QTLS and ATLS status.
The partly integrated route is a pathway within the Level 5 Diploma for Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS). The subject specialism is reflected by an ‘endorsed subtitle’, eg (Mathematics Numeracy).
It requires unqualified teachers to undertake a single qualification.
In part one there are designated pathways for literacy, numeracy and ESOL, which would be undertaken in a single subject cohort of trainee teachers. In part two integrated learning is permitted alongside generic DTLLS cohorts.
Integrated learning opportunities are also permitted for the PTLLS and planning and assessing for inclusive practice modules in part one.
The qualifications are endorsed by Standards Verification UK (SVUK), and are accredited by the Qualifications Curriculum Authority (QCA).
| Qualification title | QCA reference |
|---|---|
| 7305-18 Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (English Literacy) | 500/2084/5 |
| 7305-19 Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (English ESOL) | 500/2086/9 |
| 7305-20 Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Mathematics Numeracy) | 500/2085/7 |
This route is now open for registrations. Applications for qualification approval can be made to your regional office.
Qualification handbooks are available to download from the QTLS web pages.
