Those working in industries such as cleaning, hairdressing, catering and beauty therapy are more likely to develop contact dermatitis than in any other occupations. Contact dermatitis is an occupational risk that can affect home life, social life and future career opportunities, as well as being painful and debilitating.  The knowledge acquired by the learner will enable them to understand and explain the signs and symptoms of contact dermatitis, its causes and methods of prevention.

The aim of this qualifiction is to:

  • meet the needs of candidates who work or want to work as hairdressers, beauty therapists, caterers or cleaners in the service industries sector
  • provide valuable accreditation of skills and/or knowledge for candidates, without requiring or proving occupational competence
  • increase the learner’s awareness of work-related contact dermatitis.
