Creative Techniques - Vocational (No. 7111, 7112 and 7113 )

This page contains all the qualification related documentation a centre and learner requires for the Creative Techniques qualifications.

There are 3 levels to the Creative Techniques qualifications.

  • Level 1 - aimed at assistants in craft related business and is designed to give learners an insight in to the basic skills needed to progress as a designer maker. It will provide learners with the skills needed for employment at a junior level, to create simple well designed craft items and the opportunity to progress to higher levels.
  • Level 2 - aimed at sole practitioners and is designed to offer a strong foundation in the designer made crafts as well as providing business skills. Learners will develop the necessary skills to work independently, creating items of well designed and saleable quality.
  • Level 3 - aimed at those working in studios either as the sole trader or in partnership. The qualification will lead learners to advanced and innovative design and production skills as well as providing skills for running a business.

Qualification structure

The Creative Techniques offers qualifications at Award, Certificate and Diploma levels.

To achieve the Award you must complete one unit at any level from the mandatory or craft options list.

To achieve the Certificate you must complete four units – two mandatory and two options from the selected craft pathway.

To achieve the Diploma you must complete fifteen units – seven mandatory and eight options from the selected craft pathway.

How are the qualifications delivered and assessed?

The qualifications are delivered in Colleges of Further Education, Adult Education Centres and Independent Centres of Creative Arts. The qualifications are assessed by continuous practical assessment.
