About Us

City & Guilds has numerous qualification teams who are each subdivided into industry specialist teams. Oil and Gas is an important industry that falls within the remit of the Engineering, Manufacturing and Process Industries (EMPI) Team.

The EMPI team is committed to ensuring qualifications and skills are developed in line with what the industry is looking for. We achieve this by working closely with industry consultants, training providers and employers.

The EMPI team has realised that there is a global opportunity to standardise best practice within the Oil and Gas industry. The culture of most large employers within this industry promotes portability of their technicians. This is usually due to sites and rigs being located in many parts of the world and usually causes confusion and uncertainty of skills capabilities, expertise and qualifications. Choosing an accreditation from City & Guilds such as the Oil and Gas IVQ (8510) will incorporate the key requirements that are important to the industry such as portability, flexibility and simplicity of assessment.
