Achiever of the Year!
City &Guilds centre Rathbone have recently held their 2005 Achiever of the Year Awards in order to celebrate the effort and success of its candidates in England, Scotland and Wales. Tow of the City and Guilds students did extremely well winning two of the nine awards handed out on the day.
Toni Conway won the Pre 16 Achiever of the Year award after the work she completed on the City &Guilds Key Skills qualification. Toni struggled when she was at school and when she started at Rathbone she had little self-esteem and lacked confidence. She went on to achieve key skills in Improving own Learning and Working with Others helping her build her confidence and become much more motivated about learning. Eventually she completed the full Level 1 qualification and with the help of Rathbone she is now looking forward to begin her career in hairdressing.
Craig McClennon was awarded the Apprenticeship Achiever of the Year with the work he completed on the NVQ Level 1 qualification in Retail. When Craig first went to Rathbone he was described as being apprehensive and distrustful but when he realised that the support that was offered to him was genuine he soon began to flourish and completed the City &Guilds qualification. Craig was offered a placement at Motor Savers, a family run business in his area and his confidence grew further. He is now working towards his NVQ Level 2 qualification with City &Guilds and has been taken on full time with Motor Savers.
Congratulations to you both on your recent achievements and we all wish you every success for the future.
