Policy and procedures
In order to ensure consistency and quality in the delivery of our qualifications, there are a number of policies and procedures in place. Verification policy is contained in several documents which you should be familiar with:
- Ensuring quality
Ensuring quality is to help clarify issues around policy and practice for externally verified/moderated assessments and to provide updates on developments in this area. If you were familiar with previous versions of Ensuring quality, please discard them as this now supersedes earlier editions.
Centre staff will find this useful, so please encourage them to use it too!
Ensuring quality should be read alongside the general regulations in City & Guilds' Directory of qualifications/catalogue and regulators' documents such as QCA's NVQ Code of Practice, DfES's Joint Awarding Body Guidance on Internal Verification of NVQs, as well as any relevant qualification assessment strategies.
Ensuring quality (March 2008 - pdf - 0.23mb) - Internal verification guidance
Internal verification guidance has been produced in collaboration with other awarding bodies, as well as the guidance specific to City & Guilds, together with exemplar sampling strategies and plans.

As an awarding body, City & Guilds is regulated across the UK by bodies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. You can access regulatory documents here, including the NVQ Code of Practice.
