This qualification develops the skills and knowledge needed to successfully run and maintain an organisation's premises, including property management, energy conservation, security and cleaning.
It is ideal for anyone undertaking a Facilities Management Apprenticeship or working in, or hoping to progress to, a supervisory or first-line management role. It also forms part of the apprenticeship scheme for Facilities Management along with the ILM Level 3 Certificate in Facilities Management, which forms part of the knowledge component.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You can choose the qualification that demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you have developed such as:

  • Procurement
  • Budgeting
  • Maintaining property and assets
  • Energy management
  • Disaster recovery and contingency planning.

You will learn on the job in the work environment.

Assessment will also take place in the workplace and will include a portfolio of evidence to meet the criteria of the qualification.

You are working in a supervisory role and have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge. You work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety, fault correction and ensuring work meets the required standard.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Centres currently offering the Level 3 NVQ in Facilities Management (7694-03) can gain fast-track approval.

There are no specific eligibility requirements for this qualification, but learners should be employed in a first-line management or supervisory role in facilities management.

Level 3

This will suit you if you are working in a supervisory role and have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge. You work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety, fault correction and ensuring that work meets the required standard.

This qualification comprises three mandatory units and eighteen optional units for learners to choose from, including:

  • Contribute to the management of incidents and emergencies
  • Maintain property and assets
  • Monitor operational performance
  • Understand sustainability and environmental issues and the impact on facilities management
  • Specify, commission and manage external contracts and agreements.
