Understanding Sustainable Energy Efficiency (6068)

Energy efficiency is an increasing concern for UK buildings. Regulation is increasing in response to the UK Climate Change Act 2008 and the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, resulting in a corresponding focus on the energy efficiency of buildings and the associated emissions of carbon dioxide. These qualifications allow candidates to learn the knowledge and understanding required for employment and/or career progression in the energy advisory sector. They cover a variety of subjects relevant to rolling out energy efficiency measures across the built environment of the UK, including Customer Services and Sales as well as understanding the Green Deal, and the variety of energy efficiency measures that may be implemented in a building.
These qualifications are for candidates who work or want to work in the energy services sector, usually in a support services role such as sales or customer advice.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

Learners will be required to study units on Green Deal, Customer Services and Sales, and will be able to tailor their learning using optional units that cover a variety of energy efficiency measures. The qualifications are knowledge-based and have a short-answer paper test to prove understanding.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

The qualifications support a variety of roles in sales, customer services and advice in the energy efficiency sector. The qualifications are not related to a particular job, but will provide the learner with firm knowledge of energy efficiency that will support the work of Green Deal Providers, Local Authorities, Social Landlords, and other organisations involved in energy efficiency.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

The qualifications cover a broad range of knowledge and understanding related to buildings, construction and building services. Centres delivering the courses should be familiar with the aims and purpose of the Green Deal and associated energy efficiency measures.

Level 2

Level 2 Awards in Understanding Sustainable Energy Efficiency act as an introduction to the subject, providing learners with a depth and breadth of understanding relevant to being able to provide sales, customers services and advice to individuals and business interested in energy efficiency measures - for example, being able to identify when a visit from a Green Deal Advisor would be of use to the customer or client.

The qualifications are not related to a particular job, but will provide the learner with firm knowledge of energy efficiency that will support the work of Green Deal Providers, Local Authorities, Social Landlords, and other organisations involved in energy efficiency.

  • Review Regulatory Issues and Obtain Consents
  • Procure and Contract Energy Efficiency Measures
  • Plan and Coordinate Energy Efficiency Work
  • Control and Handover Energy Efficiency Works
