These qualifications were created in partnership with CILEx (The Chartered Institute of Legal
Executives), with the aim to allow learners to gain the knowledge and in-depth understanding
of the legal environment and its associated specialist areas. Learners can choose from a
range of optional units that will allow them to tailor their knowledge to a chosen pathway
within the legal sector.
These qualifications are aimed at learners looking to gain knowledge and understanding of the legal environment who may be looking to work within the legal sector, build on existing skills or up date their knowledge.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You'll have a wide choice of options and, depending on your choices, you'll cover things like:

  • legal environment
  • family law
  • conveyancing
  • Consumer rights
  • the law and employment

To get a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) you learn with your training provider - maybe through practical sessions, group discussions or assignments.

VRQs are usually assessed by your training provider using assignments, practical task, exams or online tests.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

The Level 2 Legal Studies could help you get a job as a legal executive or legal secretary in a range of sectors.
After completing this qualification you could move on to take:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Law
  • Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in Law
If you wish to pursue a legal career you can progress to qualified solicitor status via Fellowship of ICILEx and the Common Professional Examination.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.
You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Level 2

At Level 2 learners are expected to understand the legal environment and principles of criminal
liability, contract liability and negligence. They will demonstrate an understanding of this sector
and have a depth of knowledge to enable them to work in legal services.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

On completion learners will gain the skills and knowledge required to progress to the Level 3
Legal Secretaries, the Level 3 Awards in Paralegal or the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship pathway for Legal Administrators. In addition, CILEx (The
Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) also have a number of Higher Level qualifications on offer.
They can also progress onto employment in a variety of roles within the legal sector.
