Technicals in Constructing the Built Environment (6720)

Last Updated: 14 Sep 2016
First teaching of these qualifications is September 2016

The Level 2 Technical Award in Constructing and Maintaining the Built Environment and the Level 2 Technical Award in Designing and Planning the Built Environment  allow learners to gain theoretical knowledge and a small number of technical skills related to the built environment sector, not usually acquired through general education.  Learners could progress to a broad range of academic and/or vocational qualifications post-16.

The Level 3 Advanced Technical Certificate, Diploma and Extended Diplomas in Constructing the Built Environment are for learners who are interested in developing the specific technical and professional skills that will lead to meaningful employment in the built environment sector.  Learners may progress into employment or within their current role or onto further learning including university or an Apprenticeship.

These technical qualifications can also form part of the City & Guilds TechBac – an exciting new framework for learning designed to give 14 - 19 year olds the technical and professional skills needed to progress from FE onto an apprenticeship, into university or into the modern jobs market.

To ensure learners develop the wider workplace skills required by employers, TechBac goes above and beyond the technical qualification. It combines an accredited project qualification, practical work experience and critical skills development, brought to life via the TechBac Skills Zone, an innovative online learning hub giving learners the opportunity to practice and develop their skills anytime, anywhere.

Find out more on TechBac.
The Level 2 suite of qualifications are aimed at learners aged 14 – 16.

The Level 3 suite of qualifications are aimed at learners aged 16 – 18 and 19+.
