For many years the City & Guilds creative suite of qualifications has provided crafts people worldwide with skills that form the basis of a cultural tradition, whilst promoting the highest level of innovation and design. With a qualification in Creative Techniques you will become a well informed designer in your chosen craft subject, able to sample ideas and create well-designed, professional quality craft items that you can sell.

As an added option you can also learn the vital knowledge of how to run a creative business, including the development of a business plan.
The level 3 Creative qualifications are designed for those who are progressing to highly skilled designer makers. Designer Makers can be interested in building their own business, and are interested in developing innovative and highly technical skills in exemplary craft practice.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

Studying at level 3 you can choose a subject from a vast range of skilled areas. Each one of these has a variety of options, for example, Fashion includes fashion wear, tailoring, lingerie, fashion corsetry, theatre costume and millinery as well as additional skills in subjects like pattern cutting. The subjects are as follows:

Is this level right for me?

Level 3
This is aimed at those working in studios either as the sole trader or in partnership. The qualification will lead you to advanced and innovative design and production skills as well as providing skills for running a business.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

Design makers can progress to degree level or gain further skills in production, and will be able to run a craft business.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified assessors - you can train internal members of staff or recruit specially.

Those teaching and delivering a Level 3 qualification in Creative Techniques should have the relevant expertise. They should familiarise themselves with the structure, content and assessment requirements of the qualifications before designing a course programme.

You will need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

The qualifications are assessed by practical assignments that are internally graded as pass, merit or distinction.

There are no additional assignments aside from those contained within the units.

Level 3
