The Principal Learning in Engineering qualifications will introduce you to the world of engineering. It will provide you with a gateway to the different sectors of engineering, the underlying systems and structures, and the career opportunities available. You will acquire an understanding of the contribution engineering makes to modern life and the practical application to realistic problems that involve purposeful design, innovation and technology.
For learners who want to establish a firm foundation of knowledge and skills in engineering.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

Level 2 builds on a strong foundation on science technology and mathematics. It provides you with a context for STEM and an opportunity to explore their identity as an engineer or technician.

Level 3 provides a gateway to the different sectors of engineering and the underlying systems and structures. It allows you to build on acquired knowledge and understanding and progress into further/higher education and future employment.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

On completion learners will gain the skills and knowledge required to progress to STEM apprenticeships, further education or university along with significant opportunities to design, create and test engineered products.

In addition, we also have a number of Higher Level qualifications offered through the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified assessors - you can train internal members of staff or recruit specially.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Centres currently offering the 7582-10/20 Level 1/2 Certificate in Performing Engineering Operations and/or 2850 Levels 1/2/3 Certificates/Diplomas in Engineering, can use fast-track approval. For all other centres, please download and complete the qualification approval form and send it to your local City & Guilds office.

Anyone can take this qualification, but you must make sure all your learners can access the resources they need to complete it.

Level 2
