These qualifications allow candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
They also serve as Technical Certificates in the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Level 4 apprenticeship framework.
Anyone aged 18 or over, looking to start or progress their career in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You can choose one of two career paths: 
  • Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Aeronautical Engineering
Five mandatory units and a minimum of three optional units totalling 120 credits must be achieved to gain a full qualification. Mandatory units include Human Factors in the Workplace and Engineering Planning and Scheduling. Optional units include Statistical Analysis for Engineers and Engineering Procurement.

There are a number of careers the qualifications can lead to:

  • Manufacturing Senior Technician.
  • Mechanical Systems Senior Technician.
  • Senior Quality Technician.
  • Senior Electronics Production Technician.
  • Electronics/Electrical Engineering Senior Technician (Aerospace Computer Systems).
  • Electronics Development Senior Technician.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

Staff delivering this qualification must be able to demonstrate that they meet the following occupational expertise requirements. They should:
  • be occupationally competent to technically knowledgeable in the areas for which they are delivering training and/or have experience of providing training. This knowledge must be to the same level as the training being delivered.
  • have recent relevant experience in the specific area they will be assessing, including setting and marking assignments
  • have credible experience of providing training.

Level 4

These qualifications allow progression from our current suite of Level 3 Engineering qualifications. They also allow candidates to progress into employment and/or can provide preparation towards professional recognition as an Engineering Technician.

These qualifications also serve as Technical Certificates in the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Level 4 apprenticeship framework. To earn one of these qualifications candidates must achieve a minimum of 120 credits.
