These qualifications have been developed for the health and social care sectors in order to promote good working practice in assisting and moving individuals with a range of specific needs.

The completion of the Level 2 Certificate will ensure a competent worker.

The completion of the Level 3 Award, combined with an appropriate trainer qualification, will equip supervisors and managers with the skills to give an effective induction into assisting and moving for their workers.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You can choose the qualification and units that best fit your current work role and setting. Units include:

  • appropriate lifting and moving techniques
  • preventing the spread of infection
  • understanding dementia, physical disability, learning disabilities and mental health problems
  • moving inanimate loads.
Assessment will be by means of assignments or practical tasks.

Which level is right for me?

Level 2
You are working in the health and social care sector and have some relevant knowledge and skills, usually from a role where you've been supervised.

Level 3
You are working in the health and social care sector and have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge. You work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety, fault correction and ensuring work meets the required standard.

These qualifications can help you to develop good working practice in assisting and moving individuals in a range of health and social care roles.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Level 2

This level is ideal if you are working in the health and social care sector and have some relevant knowledge and skills, usually from a role where you've been supervised.

You choose from a range of units including:

  • principles of infection prevention and control
  • understanding physical disability
