The qualifications is assessed by means of externally set internally marked assignments.

Level 2
You are new to or interested in adult social care in Northern Ireland and you need to acquire essential knowledge of the area.

Level 3
You are already working in adult social care in Northern Ireland, or you have some essential knowledge that you wish to expand.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver and assess these qualifications you will need qualified tutors and assessors - you can train internal members of staff or recruit specially.

Centres offering the Level 2 and 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care (3179) will be automatically approved to offer this qualification at the appropriate level.

There are no eligibility requirements.

Level 2

Level 2 will suit you if you are interested in working, or are new to working, in adult social care in Northern Ireland. You need to acquire essential knowledge of the area.

Level 2 comprises mandatory and optional units, including:

  • Principles of communication in adult social care settings
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings
  • Understand how to handle information in health and social care settings.
