General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You'll cover things like:

  • Emergency first aid skills
  • Preparing and maintaining environments, instruments, and equipment for clinical dental procedures
  • Providing chairside support for extraction of teeth and minor oral surgery
  • Dental radiography.

You will learn on the job in the work environment.

Assessment will also take place in the workplace and will include a portfolio of evidence to meet the criteria of the qualification.

You are working in an oral health environment and have considerable knowledge and skills in relation to dental equipment, instruments and materials and be able to work, under minimum supervision, as a key member of the oral healthcare team.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified assessors - you can train internal members of staff or recruit specially.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

This qualification will suit you if you are working in an oral health environment and have considerable knowledge and skills in relation to dental equipment, instruments and materials. You are able to work under minimum supervision as a key member of the oral healthcare team.

At this level you'll gain the skills and knowledge you need for chairside work, providing support for a range of dental procedures, including:

  • Preparing and maintaining environments, instruments and equipment for clinical dental procedures
  • Providing chairside support for extraction of teeth and minor oral surgery
  • Dental radiography.
