These qualifications will help you to develop the cookery skills needed for a number of jobs which involve planning and preparing food. They'll boost your confidence in cooking and presentation, and help you to understand the many factors which influence or dictate the choice of food.
They are ideal for learners in school or college whether full or part time, 14 - 19 years old or adult. They are also useful for those in working in a number of cooking and catering roles in schools, restaurants, and the hospitality sector who want to boost their skills.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You can choose the qualification that demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you have developed such as:

•Mise-en-place, preparation and presentation of food
•Hygiene and safety in the kitchen
•Nutrition
•Menu planning
•Storage, packaging and labelling of food.
You will learn in a suitably equipped classroom or in the work environment.

You will be assessed through written and multiple choice tests and practical examinations.

Level 2
You want to develop your basic skills and knowledge, perhaps to start a career in cooking or catering.

Level 3
You have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge, perhaps through working in the catering or hospitality industry, and want to improve these further.

To deliver these qualifications you will need qualified assessors - you can train internal members of staff or recruit specially.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.
