These Technical Awards help ambitious 14-16 year olds who want to experience vocational education alongside traditional GCSEs. They equip learners with applied knowledge and practical skills without limiting their progression opportunities post 16.

These qualifications will be available for teaching from September 2016, which are DfE approved. They can be delivered stand alone or as part of the City & Guilds TechBac

Golf Greenkeeper A Golf Greenkeeper is responsible for the maintenance, care and overall appearance of a golf course in line with employer’s requirements. It is their job to maintain a good quality playing surface and ensure the course offers a consistent challenge and an enjoyable experience for golfers.. The skills required to become a competent greenkeeper will be acquired whilst working on the golf course. On-Programme & End-Point Assessment We are an approved end-point assessment organisation on the Register of Apprentice Assessment Organisations (RoAAO) for this Standard.

Qualifications 

7863-03: Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming

  • This qualification will replace the current 7763-03 suite (Level 3 Certificate in Introductory Dog Grooming and the Level 3 Diploma for Professional Dog Stylists).

Level 2 Certificate of Technical Competence in Health and Safety for Land Based Industries

  • Safe working is of paramount importance in the land-based sector. This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to work safely around animals, on the land and with tools and machinery.
Level 3 Certificate of Technical Competence in Risk Assessment for Land Based Industries
  • Recognising and controlling the risks associated with the land-based sector is an important aspect of maintaining a safe working environment. This qualification will provide the practical skills and knowledge in systematic risk assessment. 

0141-21: Level 2 Certificate of Technical Competence in the Safe and Responsible Use of Veterinary Medicines

  • Responsible use of medicines within agriculture, animal care and equine environments is important for the maintenance of health and welfare of the animal. You will develop an understanding of the legislative requirements and industry best practise surrounding veterinary medicines, be able to safely store and administer veterinary medicines.
 

Level 2 Certificate of Technical Competence in Pruning

  • The aim of this qualification is to enable you to know when and how to correctly prune and maintain a range of either amenity/ornamental or fruiting plants.
 

Level 2 Certificate of Technical Competence in Problematic Plants, Pests, Weeds and Diseases

  • This qualification will enable you to identify invasive plants that damage the environment, are potentially harmful to humans and human health and to learn about control methods.
 Level 2 Certificate of Technical Competence in Pet Sitting
  • This qualifications is ideal for someone starting a new business or wanting to demonstrate to customers that they are competent in caring for others people’s animals.
 Level 2 Certificate of Technical Competence in Dog Walking
  • This qualifications is ideal for someone starting a new business or wanting to demonstrate to customers that they are competent in controlling and exercising dogs.

Level 2 Certificate of Technical Competence in Animal Health, Husbandry and Handling

  • This qualification will enable you to understand and practice the basic skills that underpin good animal health and care.
 Level 3 Certificate of Technical Competence in Animal Nutrition
  • This is a more specialist programme for those who have a responsibility for animal feeding and care.
 0142: Level 2 and 3 Certificate of Technical Competence in Utility Arboriculture      
  • This qualification includes a range of pathways to develop and practice the critical skills required to work safely in this environment. Pathways will include, assistant ground worker, Ground based felling, Aerial tree work, team leader and the role of the supervisor.
