You can choose the qualification that demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you have developed, such as:

  • Roles and responsibilities of teachers/trainers
  • Inclusive practice
  • Planning and delivering a session
  • Assessment.

You will learn on the job in a work environment and in the classroom.

Assessment will be a combination of a short portfolio of evidence, practical skills demonstrations, and observation.

Which level is right for me?

Level 3
Your role involves identifying learning needs, planning for learning, engaging learners who have differing characteristics, and assessing learning. The award at this level provides an introduction to basic practical teaching skills, principles and theory.

Level 4
Your role involves identifying learning needs, planning for learning, engaging learners with differing characteristics, and assessing learning. The award at this level provides more in-depth theories and principles. A Level 4 Award is essential for those who wish to become specialist teachers of literacy, language or numeracy.

What Careers Can This Lead To?

These qualifications can help you to progress in teaching/training roles in a wide range of organisations in the lifelong learning sector. These include:

  • Public sector organisations
  • Private sector organisations
  • Further Education, Adult and Community Education.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications, you will need qualified and experienced teachers/trainers. We strongly recommend that team members hold qualifications in assessment and/or quality assurance according to their role, as you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards and appropriate access to learning materials, eg textbooks and internet

You can get automatic approval for Level 3 (6302-13) and Level 4 (6302-14) if your Centre is approved to offer:

  • 7303 (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector).

You can get fast-track approval for all of 6302 if you offer:

  • 7303 - Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector plus approval for 7318 (6318) - Learning and Development
  •  

  • 7303 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector plus approval for 6317 Assessment, Quality Assurance qualifications.

Level 3

Level 3 is ideal if your role involves identifying learning needs, planning for learning, engaging learners who have differing characteristics, and assessing learning. This level provides an introduction to basic practical teaching skills, principles and theory.

This comprises one mandatory and a range of optional units, including:

  • Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning
  • Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in lifelong learning
  • Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in lifelong learning
  • Facilitate learning and development in groups
  • Facilitate learning and development for individuals
  • Principles of assessment in lifelong learning.
